Lord Krishna
was born in the village of Mathura. But his childhood was spent in Gokul
village. At that time
the king of Mathura was Kansa. And a certain percentage of the grain, milk,
butter, had to be given to Kansa as tax.
Between
Gokul and Mathura, when the gopis were going to pay taxes at Mathura, Lord Krishna would
stop them in the middle of the road and make fun of them. Which is described in, “Hare Dan Mage Kanudo Dan Mage”,
this Gujarati bhajan.
